Snyder Photography About Me

Hello!  Thank you for taking interest in me.  I was born on March 25th 1981.  I graduated from Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School in 1999.  I am currently employed full time at Mark's Computers inside Leighty's Farm Market.  There I am a manager, repair technician and sales rep.  My family has always loved the art of photography.  We are always taking photos of something.  In 2004, I decided to purchase my first 35mm SLR camera.  With that my plans were to take scenic and close-up photos.  In 2005 I started to like my own work to the point, I posted some on the walls of Mark's Computers, just to see what people thought.
At that time I had people coming up to me and asking me if I do it professionally as in senior and wedding photos.  I told them no, I do it as a hobby.  The more I thought about it, I realized that I could make a living doing a form of art that I love to do.  So I proceeded to research how to obtain a PA business license.  In the meantime, I shot some friends and relatives senior and wedding photos as a learning experience and practice.  Then I officially became Snyder Photography.  By that time my friends and family had spread the word so much that I had people coming in left and right.  At that time, I remodeled a room inside Leighty's Farm Market and used it as my studio.
Over the first year and into 2006, I started working with models.  This allowed me to explode my range with ideas.  Since the models were looking to get a cheap start, I started working with them for free.  This allowed me to try out new ideas, without the worry of an upset customer.  Along the road I have made a few strong model/photographer relationships, and have helped some models get their foot in the door to some agencies.  Please see the modeling section of this site for more details on what I am still doing with models.
By this time I have been engaged to my high school sweetheart, Jennifer Thompson for 2 years now.  We planned the wedding for June 24th 2006.  In the end of spring of 2006 we found out that we were going to purchase her late grandfathers home from his estate.  This made the photography business get pushed to the side burner.  Pap had cats all of his life and Jen is deathly allergic.  This required removal of all flooring and replacement.  There were also a few other renovations that needed made.  On June 24th 2006, we got married.  At this time the flooring was not quite finished, but finished enough to move in.
Since I now have 2 acres of scenic land, I decided it would be easier to turn one of the bedrooms into a small studio.  Another benefit is that my Aunt owns a beautiful farm about 15 minutes from me.  I did move the studio into my home, with the possible future plans of an addition being built for a little larger of a studio in the future.
Then on November 13th 2006, we had a house fire.  The fire did not damage much, but a bedroom on the upper floor.  Once again Snyder Photography was put on hold.  Since our bedroom took the brunt of the damage, we had to temporarily convert the studio back into a bedroom, until the house was fix.
Now everything is back to normal and Snyder Photography is beginning to come alive again.  Part of coming alive again is the spawn of the new site, which it to include some new ideas and services.
Again thank you for showing interest in me.  I am looking forward for the chance to capture you in a timeless photograph!

                                                                                                                   Sincerely,

                                                                                                              Jeremy M Snyder
